How exactly do I know this?

Well, just like my friend Mike, I too, have battled through knee pain for most of my adult life. However, my personal dilemma was a little different than Mike’s. Yes, I tore my meniscus too. But NOT after getting whacked by a middle linebacker running at full speed.

No. My injury was at least 100x more common…. maybe even 1000.

One day, as I was returning home from the health food store. I pull into my driveway, open the door, step out. And made a funny turn of my knee.

THAT’S IT!

No high impact tackle on the football field. No car crash. No slip and fall in the store. All I was doing was exiting my vehicle. Exiting my VEHICLE!!! 

And one funny turn in my right knee changed my life forever.

And sorry to yell, but it’s just sometimes I get emotional just playing it back. Talking about it. Thinking about it. But my point to you is… Never feel regretful about your choices. It’s nothing you did, but simply a horrible stroke of luck.

And even though fitness was my passion from a very young age. I’m embarrassed to admit that I got sucked into believing one big, fat, lie.

The LIE from Big Pharma telling me that unless I cough up $50,000 bucks for knee replacement surgery…

I’d have no choice but to just live through the pain for the rest of my natural LIFE. You see Big Pharma has a way of keeping all the REAL solutions to body ailments and diseases to themselves. Because that way they can keep their cash flow in tact.

Now, when it came to my own knee injury. Frankly, while some days were better than others.

I never quite knew when the pain would tighten it’s grip on me. It was totally random, which made it all the more frustrating and demoralizing.

If I could have had some type of signal, some type of warning …. ANYTHING. When the pain was ready to set in, then I could’ve dealt with it a little better. But there’s nothing worse than feeling amazing, bursting with energy. Ready to ride my bike on a beautiful fall day in Michigan…

And just like that… Out of nowhere…

Immediately, I groaned in misery and yelled “Not again!” I whipped my bike to the ground and limped into my college apartment.

Because I was a pain cream addict, I squeezed half the tube on my knee.  Two minutes later, the overdose of cream felt like it set my skin on fire… almost giving me first degree burns. 

This was my life. The activities I participated in were determined by how my knee felt that day. I wasn’t in control of my pain and wasn’t in control of my life.

Sharp, shooting pain… like someone was digging a knife into my knee and twisting it.

“What kind of a man would I become if I couldn’t even walk without pain?” 

“Would I be able to dance with my future bride on our wedding day?” 

“How would I wrestle with my future son?” Would I have to tell him “No son, not today.”

Over the course of the next several years, I continued to fight through the pain and went on to pursue my passion in fitness. Despite my injury, my career excelled. And I found myself creating fitness programs that are used by college sports teams, professional athletes, and even the United States Military.

Yet buried deep beneath the surface was a “hidden rip”, aka the Meniscus tear, growing inside my knee that nearly destroyed me. Every squat I performed and every step I took extended the RIP, which made some days almost impossible to get through.

With that said, in my lifetime, I have always been a warrior  

So I figured I would just fight through it, because spending $50,000 on a knee replacement surgery that ”MIGHT” work was just out of the question

Over the years, I did however, try everything else I could think of to get rid of the pain.…

From heating pads, to Cold Compression Therapy, to topical creams to Over the Counter pills, acupuncture. I even tried pulling a complete 180 on my diet and removing any and all inflammatory foods.

I tried them ALL, but in the end, nothing ever did seem to work. 

And I’m not afraid to admit: after everything I tried, I eventually felt hopeless. 

Pouring an ENDLESS amount of money into treatments, techniques and pointless Doctor’s visits.

But at the end of the day, I was just unable to get the Knee Reaper to relinquish the death grip he had on me, and to leave me the heck alone.

All of the ones you see advertised on TV over and over and over that don’t work; isn’t some type of WILD coincidence. Like I touched on a little bit earlier: Big Pharma controls almost every facet of the medical industry.

Sad, sad world we live in. But it’s simply reality.

It’s a FACT that knee pain still plagues almost half of all people even one year after a knee replacement surgery…. 

Not to mention the countless months of expensive and time-consuming rehab. Even worse, the pain cycle leaves you at risk of Opioid Addiction.  An addiction that kills 72,000 Americans every single year.

The bottom line is: It’s a cut-throat industry. With over 600,000 Americans getting knee replacement surgeries every year and about $3 billion DOLLARS at stake….

So despite the constant pain. I made the choice to simply carry on with my day to day life being happy and positive, the best way I knew how….

Yes, the pain was still there. But I would now proceed to live with no more drama, and no more stress.

Or so I thought ….

Fast forward a couple of months, and after making a commitment to myself not to sit around and sulk. I decided to head to the gym for an easy game of pick-up basketball with some friends. And ever since that incident concerning the bike, over my dead body was I going to let anyone or anything...

Stand in the way of my love for a healthy, active lifestyle EVER again…

So as I stepped on the court, having some light hearted competition with friends. Not playing too hard or running.

And then, after about 10 minutes of us enjoying ourselves on the court, is the moment it finally happened...

As I took a few dribbles, jogged past my friend, and went up for a layup off the glass …

I jumped and yelled out “Jorrddaannnnn!”...

And then when I landed… POW!!!!   

After years of wear and tear after I stepped out of my car with a funny twist…

My meniscus FINALLY gave out and it literally felt like I got shot in the knee cap with a 12 gauge shotgun at point blank range….

Everything after that, just happened in slow motion… A BLUR ….

I fall to the ground in pure agony, clutching my knee, SCREAMING at the top of my lungs...

Immediately, my friend runs over yelling “Todd!!! … Todd!!! … “Are you ok?! Yes, I had just torn my knee in half….

But at THAT MOMENT, the only thing racing through my head, was the misery of living with knee pain for the rest of my life.

And that moment right there, that small capsule of time… Is when I finally said enough is enough. And became DETERMINED to figure out a way to get rid of this meniscus tear and knee pain….

If it was LITERALLY the LAST THING I DO. I was now ready to become the first man to DEFEAT the Knee Reaper …

When I was laying at home confined to my bed, trying to think of every possible avenue to get my knee repaired. I remembered one of my close associates, Tim; I wouldn’t go as far to call him a friend …

But Tim, a certified brown belt, used to have Martial Arts related injuries all the time…

And he’d tell me about how he was always able to bounce right back and fight another match...

Because of a Chinese Healing Doctor who always showed him the proper, ultra-secret techniques to use….

It is meant to stretch and contract millions of times over the course of a life. 

Yet there is a force that no one can avoid that puts the knee at a disadvantage compared to any other joint called "Repetitive Strain". 

Just think about it…

When you walk, all your weight is placed on this moving joint that hinges back and forth. Over and over and over and OVER again, for decades on top of decades …

In fact, researchers believe that for most people the knee joint gets used up to 8X more than any other joint in your body. And since the knee is weight-bearing, this exponentially increases its “wear & tear”.

Imagine having to drive 20 hours to work every single day, instead of 20 minutes. The tread on your tires will inevitably vanish a lot quicker. And since we all must walk in life, this is simply unavoidable

So, it’s not your fault….

It’s just the nature of the knee joint and how much use it gets. Imagine a rubber band that gets small rips in it from overuse.

If you continue to stretch it, the rips become larger and it will finally break. This Repetitive Strain is at the ROOT of your knee pain because it creates structural damage in your ligaments, tendons and cartilage.

You see… “You have to first heal the rubber band, before you can successfully put it under strain again”…

There are 3 Knee Demolishing Mistakes that most people make when trying to heal the knee:

1. Doing Movement Based Exercises When The Knee Is In Pain 

Now, movement is normally very good for any joint in your body...

However, just like a weak rubber band, if you stretch the rubber band you increase the chances it will tear even further. So if you move an unhealthy joint while under pressure, even if it’s your own body weight, you cause greater strain and ultimately prevent healing… There are many therapists that recommend squats, lunges and a knee extension machine as a way to rehab the knee. 

But unfortunately, these are the very last exercises you’d ever want to do... These are the same exercises I performed to try to “strengthen and rehab” my knee, when all I was doing was ripping my ‘Rubber Band’ more, and more. Many of my clients are confused by this new information and claim, “Some of the exercises I’m doing now seem to help”… Well here is the thing… 

While it may temporarily make you feel good today, it’s sure to whack you with 10x the pain tomorrow. And again, please just remember the rubber band analogy... Before putting a weak rubber band under tension, you must repair the damaged parts or it will cause more damage and possibly tear. The standard recommended exercises are outdated and risky and recent scientific literature now shows they can cause MORE damage and MORE pain to your knee.

2. Resting The Muscles In Your Knee To Heal The Joint 

Now, I understand this may seem odd because I just recommended not exercising the knee using traditional exercises…

However, there are a particular type of  “healing exercises” that are “SAFE”... And that you MUST do to cure knee pain that you can do easily, even while just casually sitting in your bed tonight. 

Now, I’ll give you more details on those in just a second… 

But, the reason rest can become so harmful to your knee is because of a little known concept called “Muscular Atrophy”. You’ve likely heard of the wise saying, “If you don’t use it, you lose it”. 

Well, Muscular Atrophy occurs when your muscles aren’t stimulated so they simply get weaker and weaker by the minute … 

Eventually, when you DO place weight on your legs, the muscles are so weak that you’ve lost stability and strength around your knees… Which could now lead to serious joint inflammation and injury. So the LAST thing you want to do is completely rest your knees and “wait” for healing to occur. And finally, #3…

3. Simply Hoping The Pain Will Eventually Go Away and Going About Your Normal Life 

This is the exact same trap I fell into that inevitably tore my knee in half on the basketball court.

I, like most people, didn’t know the solution so I just went on with my life and tried my best to ignore the pain… 

For me though, and for millions of others, wear and tear continues and the rip continues to grow LARGER and the pain never leaves…. 

In the end, yes, the body CAN heal itself but you must support the healing and TRAIN your body on how to self-heal, by doing the right things.

This is when The Doc first shared with me a bizarre exercise I now call “The Red Onion”...

It was so simple that, at first, I was skeptical that it would even work. The best time to perform this exercise was at bedtime because it stimulated healing and if you walk on it right afterward it could lessen the effects.

You see, Doc formulated a unique form of powerful exercises called “Sequential Isometrics”. Isometric exercises are “non-movement’ based exercises. You strengthen your muscles without actually moving the joint. Sequential Isometrics are performing isometric exercises in the right sequence to trigger your bodies’ natural healing abilities.

Now, I had heard of isometrics before, and even performed them time to time…

But Sequential Isometrics and the Red Onion Exercise was a different beast all together …. totally different.

You see, just imagine a piece of coal.

When you place enough pressure over time to coal, and in the right manner, it will eventually turn into a diamond and your knee is the exact same. You have to apply the right type of stimulus and in the right sequence you’re your knee will naturally adapt…

This natural adaptation of the knee is called “Adaptive Stress”. It’s just like when a bodybuilder is in the gym pumping iron.

He challenges his body and it is forced to get stronger. Muscles grow bigger, more stable, more protective, more POWERFUL.

And don’t worry, you won’t be lifting heavy weights like a bodybuilder to get your knee strong. In fact, you won’t be doing any strenuous exercises AT ALL.

With just a few basic, 5 minute, stress free exercises sitting in your chair or bed using Sequential Isometrics, your knee strengthens and heals without even moving the joint…

Inflammation decreases, the joint is put back into alignment and the joint heals from the inside out, NOT the other way around.

It’s like creating a natural, protective brace around your knee.

Initially, I thought the concept made sense, but it just seemed a little too simple to me. “Was the answer to my non-stop battle with knee pain simply a series of The Doc’s “Sequential Isometrics”?

Well, I had literally tried everything, so I thought, “What the heck do I have to lose? “ And as I performed his Red Onion exercise for the first time, my knee suddenly started to feel different. Initially, I didn’t get immediate relief from the pain …  

But my knee definitely felt stronger, more firm …
